These bulletproof ceramic plates are meant to fit into standard type IIIA external bulletproof vest with 25x30cm / 10x12inch pockets. These hard armor plates provide III protection level against assault rifles as M16/M4 and AK47 used in the military. This bulletproof plate is cut at the upper part of the chest to improve movement and mobility, especially around the shoulder area, for whoever is wearing it.
Although the ceramic plates are strong and sturdy materials that will not break under a broad range of forces, however, users must ensure that they maintain the bulletproof plates with caution. Military usually stores these plates in warehouses for time of need as wars, usually the army uses light polyethylene plates or ceramic plates level IV, these ceramic level III plates stored for time of need.
When ceramic plates not cared for they can be cracked as micro-cracks that might not be visible to human eyes. While these military plates are extremely hard, it still requires care in handling including general maintenance, and this has nothing to do with the toughness of the plates.
Wearers are also advised to avoid putting the bulletproof vests when fitted with ceramic armor plates under all sort of stress like throwing the vest carelessly into the back of a truck. Actions like this could lead to a shorter lifespan of the plates thereby leading to more frequent replacement and its attendant costs.
Armor plates with level III protection are useful to military personnel like the air-force, navy and some units in the army, they provide lesser protection than level IV ceramic plates, but they weight 0.5-1kg less and they cost less to be manufactured. Likewise, owners or operators of private security use these ballistic plates for their men to provide ballistic protection.
